In June 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to attend my first artist residency at Woodland Farm Artist Residency on Salt Spring Island, BC. For the entire month, I immersed myself in my art, dedicating time to exploring and experimenting with different styles, concepts, and themes. My goal was to create work that honoured my Ojibwe roots while allowing myself the freedom to move beyond a single artistic approach. It was deeply cathartic to create for myself, free from the pressure of an audience, and to push the boundaries of my self-expression. I am profoundly grateful for the supportive space that nurtured my creativity and gave me the invaluable gift of simply being.
